NEW: Guide for Anglers Reporting Offences to the Police

15.07.14

Anglers’ fury with derisory sentencing of poachers

As intended, our promotional work, highlighting the fact that fishing without permission and the theft of fish are police matters is generating many more reports to the police on a national basis. This was entirely anticipated and the Metropolitan Police have now agreed to include reference to Theft of Fishing Rights and Theft of Fish in their call-taker training.

In the meantime anglers need to make it easy for call-takers and police officers when reporting these offences. For that reason, and to overcome any confusion our Fishery Enforcement Manager Dilip Sarkar MBE has produced a new Guide for Anglers Reporting Offences to the Police.
