13.12.10 Anglers Accuse Severn Trent Water of Anti-Angling Attitude
Following months of pressure from the Angling Trust, Draycote Fly
Fishers Association and Jeremy Wright MP, Severn Trent Water has finally
advertised for a tenant to run the Draycote reservoir fishery next
year. However, at a recent meeting with the club, the company refused to
back down on its recently-imposed ban on access to anglers’ vehicles,
claiming that parked cars might pose a risk to the Company’s tankers
making deliveries at the treatment works. Only a handful of tankers use
the perimeter road each week, and there is a 15 mph speed limit on site.
Anglers have been using this road for several decades without a single
incident.
10.12.10 Hydropower - Enough is Enough say Fisheries Bodies The Angling Trust, Atlantic Salmon Trust, Afonydd Cymru, Association of Rivers Trusts, Salmon & Trout Association and Wild Trout Trust have today written a joint letter to Paul Leinster CBE, Chief Executive of the Environment Agency (EA) to express their frustration at the way his organisation has failed to take account of the protection of fish and rivers in its approach to hydropower.

MATCHROOM SPORT can announce that for the first time in its 18 year history, the top prize for Fish 'O’ Mania is set to rise. The 2011 champion will carry off a cheque for £30,000, an increase of 20% on the previous first prize of £25,000.

The Italian Fishing Federation has released their calendar of events for next year’s World Angling Games in Italy. The host nation will organise more than 25 different competitions all within the same week at venues throughout Italy from 28th August – 4th September 2011.
08.12.10 Ice: The Dangers of Frozen Waterways
There was an incident on CHORLEYWOOD COMMON yesterday where a young boy fell through the ice of one of the ponds. He had been "dared" to walk across.
He was very, very fortunate that an adult was walking nearby and heard the shouts and managed to get him to safety and warmth very quickly.
