Angling Development Board ADB Coach Licence
What is the ADB Coach Licence to Practise Scheme?
The Angling Development Board (ADB) coach licence to practise scheme is a scheme that coaches can subscribe to in order to obtain comprehensive insurance and other benefits.
It is underpinned by a set of minimum quality standards to practise as an angling coach. This includes the need for angling coaches to:
- hold a recognised angling coaching qualification
- sign up and abide by the ADB Equity and Child Protection Policy
- sign up and abide by Sport Coach UK Code of Practice for Sports Coaches
- produce evidence of logged coaching practice
- produce evidence of ongoing continuous professional development
- produce photographic ID
- have completed a Criminal Record Bureau check
Who is it for?
Both Level 1 and Level 2 qualified angling coaches can apply for the ADB Coach Licence to Practise scheme. Level 1 angling coaches are qualified as assistant coaches and can apply for Registered coach status. Level 2 coaches are qualified to independently coach and can apply for the Licensed coach status.

- recognition from governing bodies, clubs, the Environment Agency, County Sports Partnerships and Local Authorities as being qualified and safe to coach angling
- it provides a quality assurance mechanism for employers of coaches

- re-assurance for schools and parents that the appropriate checks have been undertaken
