The Angling Trust's Preston Innovations sponsored England Feeder team finished with a fantastic third place team win from the 8th FIPSed World Feeder Championship.

The World Championship took place on the Circondariale Canal, Ossillarto, Italy from 7th – 8th July 2018 with 29 nations competing.

The depth of the competition venue ranged from 1.5 to 2.5 metres stocked with bream, carp, carassio and skimmers with a few catfish and eels.

The squad consisted of; brothers, Steve and Phil Ringer, Mick Vials, Adam Wakelin, Lee Kerry, Rob Wootton, Eddie Bridon and Dean Barlow (coach), Tom Pickering (manager) and Will Freeman (assistant).

This year saw a change in the management for the World Championship following Glenn Lawrence stepping down as England coach with Dean Barlow taking over the reins working with Will Freemen as the assistant alongside Tommy Pickering.

Joining England with bronze and 36 penalties on the podium were Team Champions Russia taking the gold with 21 penalties and in runner up position with silver were the Netherlands with 34 penalties.

In individual positions England just missed out on a podium finish for Steve Ringer to finish 5th. Taking the Individual Championship crown was Felix Scheuermann from Germany, followed by Russia taking the next two podium places with silver for Artur Arutiunov and Aleksandr Dunaey finishing in a respective third place.

Tom Pickering, England Feeder Manager stated “Our main tactics were to fish two lines at 42 metres and 18 metres for skimmers and bream, feeding with Sensas groundbait with worms and pinkie and single and double maggots on a size 16 hook. We caught most fish at 42 metres and used the 18 metres to catch small fish and to rest the 42 metres line. Although the tactics were very good on the first day I felt it was not as good on the second day as other teams copied our line.

I should have changed, but fair play to the Russians as it was an awesome performance. I think we should have finished second, but as all the teams are stronger now, to even get on the podium is a fantastic result and I am proud of all the team, staff and support that was there as everyone were awesome. A massive thanks to our sponsors and to the lads who came out to help and support us.”
