Angling Trust & WWF slam Defra proposals to control agricultural pollution

Agricultural pollution soil erosion 2 X550

The Angling Trust has teamed up with WWF to slam the latest proposals from Defra to control agricultural pollution in a consultation response to the new basic rules for agriculture.

Commenting on the proposals, Mark Owen, the Angling Trust's Head of Freshwater, said: "The rules duplicate many existing regulations and even if they were enforced they would only lead to a decrease in phosphate pollution of 2.4% when the government’s own figures show a need to reduce it by 48%."
