29.05.14  Defra Publishes Legal Opinion on Canoeists' "unconvincing" Claims of Universal Access After long-running correspondence and a formal complaint from Fish Legal, Defra has now published its legal opinion confirming that there is no general Public Right of Navigation (PRN) on non-tidal rivers or other inland waters in England and Wales.

27.05.14  The Angling Trust joins national movement to re-wild a generation of young people

The Angling Trust has joined a major national movement to reverse the generational decline in children’s connection to nature. The Wild Network, a rapidly growing movement of more than 1000 organisations, large and small, is leading a campaign calling for at least 30 minutes more wild time for every child, every day.

22.05.14  After waiting 40 years salmon get a £12 million Yorkshire home Salmon and sea trout from the North Sea will create Yorkshire’s most valuable fishery worth at least £12.5 million a year - in a river barred to them for nearly 40 years.

22.05.14  First Chalkstream Champion Award Presented The first Chalkstream Champion Award was presented to Richard Bienfait, Chief Executive of Affinity Water, at a ceremony on the River Chess in Hertfordshire for committing to reduce water abstraction dramatically on the nearby rivers Mimram, Beane and Ver, which have in the past often stopped flowing completely.

20.05.14  Anglers Welcome Government Decision Not to Impose Unfettered Access to Rivers in Wales Anglers and countryside organisations are delighted that the Welsh Government has shelved its plans to impose universal access for canoes to rivers in Wales.  The Minister for Culture and Sport, John Griffiths announced on Friday that the Government has no intention of pursuing primary legislation in this assembly term and that it will continue to support Voluntary Access Agreements.
