18.02.11  High Speed Trains Threaten Tranquility of Fisheries Angling’s representative body the Angling Trust has written to Fisheries Minister Richard Benyon MP asking him to investigate the impact of the proposed new high speed line between London and Birmingham on fisheries. More than 40 river and still water fisheries have been identified as being adjacent to the route, including the iconic Savay and Korda lakes, which have long histories as prime carp and tench waters, attracting anglers from all over the country to fish them.

18.02.11  Meetings with the Chief Executives of British Waterways and the Environment Agency We have in the past fortnight had meetings with the Chief Executives of British Waterways and the Environment Agency. We explained how furious we are with the way their organisations have been licensing, permitting and even promoting hydropower installations which will cause huge damage to coarse and game fish stocks, river flows and angling access.

17.02.11  Competitive Fly Fishers Merge into Angling Trust The Confederation of English Fly Fishers, the England Ladies Fly Fishers Association and the England Youth Fly Fishers Association have all disbanded and have merged with the Angling Trust.

Fishing under Over Head Power Lines

17.02.11  Anglers Advised to Look Up, Look Out. Every year making contact with overhead power lines causes electric shocks, severe burn injuries and sometimes death. Anglers can inadvertently put themselves in danger by fishing too close to the overhead electricity network.
Look out for overhead power line warning notices and signs prohibiting fishing or camping in certain areas of the site - they have been put there to ensure your safety.
