30.06.17  Fantastic prizes to be won in fundraising memorial event for angling legend Jan Porter was a well-respected specimen hunter, former match angler and valued Angling Trust ambassador who tragically passed away last year after a lengthy battle with cancer. 

The Jan Porter Charity Memorial has been organised for the weekend of 11-13th August and is an event aimed at raising money for the two amazing charities that helped Jan and his family throughout the duration of his extensive treatment – Cancer Research and The Aylesford Cancer Unit.

20.06.17  Angling Trust and WWF urge MPs to press for 'long overdue' reform of water abstraction regime A cross party group of MPs, including the current Water Minister Therese Coffey, Sports Minister Tracey Crouch and former Fisheries Minister Richard Benyon, attended a chalk stream discovery day on the River Itchen to learn about problems facing all rivers and in particular the English chalk streams.

15.06.17  New access scheme launched to get more anglers fishing on the River Thames in Reading With nearly three miles of river bank under the control of the local council in Reading, the town has one of the largest sections of free fishing available on the middle reaches of the River Thames. However, various parking restrictions have made it difficult for anglers to access the river in recent years but it is hoped that a new Thames Angling Parking Scheme will see anglers returning to the Thames when the new river fishing season starts.

07.06.17  Manifesto for Angling receives cross party support The Angling Trust's Manifesto for Angling - published last week - has prompted strong cross party pledges from Labour, Liberal Democrat and Conservative parties to support angling in the next Parliament.
