Work that the Environment Agency and its partners did for Fisheries & Angling in 2014/15

The Environment Agency's Annual Fisheries Report has now been published.

The report, available HERE, provides a record of fisheries activity and expenditure in 2014 to 2015. It covers aspects from fisheries monitoring and improvements through to enforcement and incident management work.

Crucially, the report highlights the substantial amount of work made possible through your rod licence income. Also included is an insight into how the Environment Agency plan to work even more closely with their partner organisations, aiming to achieve the best possible outcomes for fisheries with a new 'Team England' approach.

The main report links to 16 individual area reports showcasing a multitude of projects delivering key fisheries benefits completed during 2014 to 2015 - many in conjunction with partners. Have a look to see what has been happening in your area!

The Angling Trust welcomes this report because it provides good information about the work that the Environment Agency does with the rod licence funds provided by anglers and we believe that these funds are now being spent exclusively on fisheries and angling.

The new leadership of the fisheries team have demonstrated that they are committed to ensuring that this happens and Head of Fisheries Sarah Chare has made great progress on this vitally important issue in a large and complex organisation. We believe that there is a very clear focus for the fisheries function under Sarah's leadership.

The Trust would welcome feedback from anglers about the report, any thoughts you may have about the work of the Agency's fisheries teams and the presentation of the report, which we will feedback via the England Fisheries Group and direct to the Agency's management.
