The home nation's teams consisting of 14 anglers representing England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland travelled to the picturesque setting of the Lake of Menteith, Scotland for the Autumn Home International Loch Style on 20th September 2013. The teams fished in drifting boats to loch style rules.

Lake of Menteith is situated in the Trossachs and is considered to be the premier rainbow trout fishery in Scotland covering 700 acres, it is run as a non-profit making organisation with any money that is left over after paying the overheads being pumped directly back into the fishery, which has led to its incredible reputation as a first class fishery.

The official practice days were fished on a catch and release basis and all teams caught lots of trout, including some large fish in excess of 6 lbs. On the match day a whole range of methods worked, washing line with boobies or fabs, the bung, and notably dries. Tony Fox, Angling Trust Team England Fly Fishing caught 13 fish on small dries and was England’s top rod, closely followed by his other England squad members, Martin Burgess with 13 fish and John Hood with 12.

Two other notable English anglers representing Team England Fly Fishing were Steve Smalley and Paul Kitchen who had 10 fish each, with the top three from Team England finishing in the top ten.

On the day of the match no teams could have worked any harder, but there was always going to be one winner, with the host team Scotland taking the team honours to make it three gold medals in a row with 135 fish to record 299-14-8.

Overall Team results

1st: Scotland (135 fish) 299-14-8

2nd: Ireland (107 fish) 247-4-7

3rd: Wales (106 fish) 243-4-0

4th: England (99 fish) 234-1-4

Top Rod and individual winner of the Brown Bowl was Ray Anderson of Scotland with 18 fish 37-10-2.

Heaviest Fish prize went to Colin MacDonald of Scotland 7-4-0 with trout.

The Angling Trust and Team England Fly Fishing would like to offer their congratulations to Scotland for another convincing victory, and to thank them for hosting a well run Autumn International
