Major Success for Adam at Colemans Qualifier

Colemans Qualifier press release 2018

Fish’O’Mania XXV made its way southwards to the Colemans Cottage over the bank holiday weekend, where a slightly lower than expected turnout of 76 anglers competed for their chance at the fast-approaching Grand Final in July. A hot and humid atmosphere met the hopefuls at the cracking Essex commercial and the talk at the draw was that Wood lake may well provide the best opportunity to qualify, as the lakes larger residents could be seen cruising in the upper layers.

It was Wensum Valley Angling's Adam Major, who’d made his way down from Norfolk to fish the qualifier, who took the honours on the day. Drawing peg 2 on Wood lake, Adam went about putting together a weight of Carp which were cruising shallow. Adam picked them off by dobbing pellets down to a maximum of 12 inches deep. After this dried up a quick run of carp down the edges was taken on micros and maggot, but a biteless last 45 mins left for a nervy finish! A huge congratulations to Adam and we look forward to seeing him at Hayfield.

Second on the day was venue local Gavin Bridge who drew on Pathfield Lake, peg 25. Gavin fished both the pole short and shallow to take some decent sized carp and F1s. At the scales Gavin had amassed an impressive 106lb 12oz in the five hours.

Rounding out the top three was the ever-consistent, Guru backed, Pemb Wrighting who fancied his draw on Pathfield peg 19. Pemb also started shallow mugging cruising carp, but it wasn’t until the third hour that they really started to take the bait consistently. A frantic last 45 minutes saw the product developer bag a few bonus fish down the edge on maggots for third in the match.

A big thanks to Jayne Bibbey and the team at Colemans for hosting another cracking qualifier and to Mick Turner for a well-run match. Our next qualifier is on the popular Makins fishery for which there will be a few tickets available on spec on the morning to round up the numbers.

Anglers are reminded that ticket sales close on a Monday at 11:00 for a Wednesday match and on Wednesday at 15:30 for a Saturday match, so make sure you guarantee your ticket in time HERE.
