Riverfest winner Richie Reynolds

The Angling Trust RiverFest qualifier on the River Trent at Burton on Trent on Sunday 2nd October saw 58 competitors competing for their qualifying places into the RiverFest grand final in November.

Heavy rain the previous day lifted the river levels overnight, 8 inches of extra water damped the sport a little. The place to draw was Sherrats Farm which produced the top 3 in the match.

Richard Reynolds on peg 7 fished 16m with groundbait and casters for 2 good bream and around 10lbs of roach for 19lbs 5oz to have a comfortable win on the day.

Runner-up was England manager Mark Downes on peg 18. He balled it on long pole fishing maggots over the top at 13m for loads of small roach for 10lb 12oz. Third off peg 26 fishing stickfloat and bronze maggots 3 rod lengths out was Wayne Swinscoe catching mainly dace with the odd roach for 9lb 1oz.
