COACHING QUALIFICATION APPLICATIONS

There is now an online booking system for public Level 1 and Level 2 coaching courses which includes details of dates, venue, pre-requisites, course content and Learner fees.

If you would like to check on the currently available events with a view to booking a place on one of them, please follow the link to access the

Online Ticket Booking System

and select COACHING from the toolbar.

Should you be fortunate enough to have secured third party funding (full or part) for your coaching course and need to pay the fees other than by credit/debit card via the online booking facility, please contact the Coaching Centre office as soon as possible to arrange this.

If you don't see an event in your area, it doesn't mean that we don't operate in your region, but that there is currently no course available for applications.  As soon as further courses can be offered for public booking, we will add them to the site.

(Please note that you don't need to be a member of Angling Trust in order to book a place on a coaching course.  If you take up the offer of a year's free licensing after qualification, this will include individual membership of Angling Trust.)

Level 1 Award

L1AASC: The entry-level award - a starting point in coaching angling

Level 1 Award: Angling Support Coach
This qualification is new and replaces the previous Level 1 Award in Coaching Angling as of April 2019.  Learners need to be aged at least 16 by the first day of their selected Level 1 course, but there is no upper age limit.

All Level 1 courses are open to anglers of any discipline, whether Coarse, Game or Sea.

You can download the programme outline to see what's involved in the new Level 1 qualification.

If there's no Level 1 event currently showing on the booking site which would be suitable for you, we can't say what other courses will be added later on (if we knew that, the details would already be visible on the site!) However we can add you to our enquiry list so that when a course near you is about to open for applications, we can alert you accordingly.

Level 2 Certificate

Advice about suitable Emergency First Aid and UK Coaching* Safeguarding & Protecting Children training (both required for Level 2 certification) is available to help you select an appropriate workshop — download the information documents here.

Please read the information BEFORE you book or pay for any First Aid or Safeguarding training, to ensure that it will meet the requirements for Level 2 certification.  There's a wide range of suitable First Aid training which is suitable, but we normally accept ONLY the UK Coaching Safeguarding & Protecting Children workshop or its stated equivalent for Learners from Wales, Scotland or Northern Ireland.

* As of June 2017, UK Coaching is the new name of sports coach UK

Applicants for a Level 2 course should already hold a 1st4sport Level 1 Award/Certificate in Coaching Angling (unless they have previously been issued with an L1-EX-02 certificate or other confirmation of exemption from the Approved Centre)You will need to take this into account if you are considering dates for a Level 2 course.

Arrangements for exemption from Level 1 will normally involve supplying evidence of relevant qualifications and may require you to undertake some angling-specific assessment.

For further information or if you would like to discuss this option, please email the Coaching Centre Manager at coaching@anglingtrust.net.
