Fish O Mania 2020

FOM 2020

Fish 'O' Mania

What does a Fish'O'Mania Qualifer look like after Lockdown?

We've given a lot of thought into the following set of regulations for how we'll host Fish'O'Mania Qualifiers post lockdown. Please read through the document carefully and digest it.

This document could be revised if better practices become apparent, but needless to say, we've given consideration to fisheries, organisers, and anglers.

We appreciate there may well be further questions, which we'll cover over the coming days as well.

As match anglers and organisers, we’re delighted that we’ve managed to get match fishing back so early, but it’s imperative that each and everyone one of us follow the regulations and fish a safe match.

This summer’s Fish‘O’Mania has been postponed due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. The Fish‘O’Mania Final will now take place on Saturday, August 29th, starting at 11:30am at Hayfield Lakes, Doncaster.

This allows the postponed Fish‘O’Mania qualifiers to be re-arranged, ensuring a full schedule of 18 UK qualifying matches can take place. In addition to the five qualifying matches already postponed, all qualifiers scheduled to take place in May have now also been postponed. The new Fish‘O’Mania qualifying schedule can be seen at the bottom of this press release, along with information on how to transfer or refund your qualifier entry ticket.

Matchroom Multi Sport and the Angling Trust will continue to carefully monitor the ongoing situation and follow Government advice. Free spectator tickets for Fish‘O’Mania will be available to download from later this month.

Jamie Cook Chief Executive Officer of the Angling Trust commented: “The angling community has come together through this period and I thank competition anglers for their support. In order to ensure that the sport’s Blue Riband event can take place, we will continue to work with Government to ensure that safety advice is followed and that when we are able to fish again, there is a vibrant competition programme available to all.”

Emily Frazer, COO of Matchroom Multi Sport, added: “In conjunction with the Angling Trust, we have taken the decision to postpone this year’s Fish‘O’Mania until August 29th. We believe this will give us the best possible chance of staging all 18 UK qualifying events, allowing anglers across the country a chance of qualifying for this year’s Fish‘O’Mania.

“We will continue to work closely with the Angling Trust and our partner venues and thank them all for their assistance in helping us to swiftly reschedule our qualifying matches.”
