The British Pike Championships

The British Pike Championships was set up over 30 years ago with the aim of raising valuable funds for the ACA, which has now been renamed Fish Legal and is the legal arm of the Angling Trust in England.

The British Pike Championship is the largest predator competition in Europe.

Regional qualifier matches are held at fisheries all over the UK during the pike season by volunteer organisers, with those who qualify being eligible to fish the pike final held the following November. The final usually sees approximately 200 anglers competing for the coveted winner’s trophy and Pike Championship title.

All qualifier winners can apply to take part in the Pike Final each year.  The local organisers will let  qualifier winners know who is invited from the results from their qualifiers held from Sept-April time.

The Pike Final takes place on an annual basis, usually November time. Applications for tickets for the 2019 final will be based around the qualifiers fished from September 2018 to April 2019 with the application form for the Pike Final available here again in August 2019.

Pike Final 2

Each year, the British Pike Championships raises funds to fight pollution and campaign to protect fisheries. The money raised helps support our in-house legal team, which takes on legal cases against big businesses on behalf of our member angling clubs. All of the compensation reclaimed is usually put straight back into restoring the affected fisheries and safeguarding the future of many waters.

Organising regional qualifier matches is a really good way of raising funds to support our work and at the same time a good way of getting anglers to fish new venues.
